Choosing a Travel Backpack

Wherever you are going, you need a backpack which fits you. Try these tips:
  • Straps should be padded and adjustable, backpanels also padded and comfortable.

  • A mesh system allows for ventilation.

  • Inner framed backpacks strengthen the structure of the bag, providing support, balance and bag stability.

  • Look for quality touches like double stiching, especially at seams, good metal zippers, and solid well-made buckles.

  • 50 to 80 liters is the most popular size for extended budget travel trips.

  • Don’t fill it to capacity – always leave space!

  • Buy a larger main pack and put a smaller, collapsible daybag inside.

  • Nylon pack cloth is water repellant.

  • Cordura nylon is easily cleaned and quick drying.

  •  If your pack isn’t water repellent, buy a water-repellent cover.

  • Look for a backpack with a waterproof inner liner.
